West Reno and Caughlin Ranch sit in the hills west of downtown. Locals describe both areas as generally nice and noticeably less aggressive than the south. Caughlin Ranch in particular has the established master-planned feel without the South Meadows traffic.
The honest note: Skyline (an offshoot of West Reno) used to be known for block parties — that's cooled off post-COVID. Kids who used to play out front have grown up, older residents keep to themselves more, and the neighborhood is quieter now. Some of that is the area, some of it is everywhere in America.
