Move east out of Reno proper and the valleys of Sparks, Spanish Springs, and Wingfield Springs open up. The pattern in r/Reno conversations is remarkably consistent: locals describe people here as friendlier and less aggressive than what they see on Veterans Parkway.
Spanish Springs in particular gets called out by name. It's newer, more spread out, and dominated by single-family homes. Wingfield Springs has similar bones. The general read: these neighborhoods are still working from the small-town playbook where you wave at the person checking their mail.
What you give up: The drive into Reno. Plan on it being part of the deal.
