What Is Dancing in the Streets?
Dancing in the Streets is one of Reno’s signature summer street festivals, transforming the MidTown District into an evening of live music, dancing, art, and local culture during Artown season. It’s produced by MidTown Reno and it’s the busiest single day of the year for restaurants, bars, and shops in the neighborhood.
For 2026, the festival runs Saturday, July 11 from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with free general admission and six themed music stages spread across the district. Beyond music, expect live mural painting, street performances, the MidTown Market, open-mic moments, and relaxation lounges — it’s positioned as a full-district activation, not just a concert night.
Six Music Stages
The 2026 line-up spans six stages across the MidTown footprint. Named artists are announced by MidTown Reno in the weeks before the event — check renomidtown.com/dancinginthestreets for the current-year artist announcements.
Latino
Stage 1Cumbia, salsa, reggaeton, and Latin pop. Typically pulls the biggest sing-along crowd of the day.
EDM
Stage 2Electronic, house, and bass. Peaks after 8 PM once the sun drops and the lights come on.
Disco
Stage 3Classic disco and funk — the stage that turns every generation into dancers. Family-friendly early, packed late.
Indie Rock
Stage 4Reno-Tahoe indie bands, singer-songwriters, and touring alt-rock acts. Where local music heads hang out.
Afrobeats
Stage 5Afrobeats, Amapiano, and global dance music. One of the fastest-growing stages in the festival footprint.
Country
Stage 6Line dancing, honky-tonk, and country radio hits. If you brought boots, this is where you use them.
Beyond the Music
Six stages is only half the story. The MidTown District programming turns the whole neighborhood into a festival.
Live Mural Painting
Local Reno artists paint full-scale murals live throughout the festival. Watch a wall become art in real time.
MidTown Market
Pop-up market with local makers, crafters, and MidTown small businesses. Great for gifts and Reno-only finds.
Street Performers
Dancers, aerialists, and improv performers activate the sidewalks all evening. Free, all ages.
Open Mic Moments
Impromptu mic drops between stage sets — local poets, singers, and comics get short spotlight windows.
Relaxation Lounges
Shaded, seated recovery zones sprinkled across the footprint. Perfect between stages when your feet need a break.
MidTown Bars & Restaurants
The whole district's brick-and-mortar spots stay open — Death & Taxes, Chapel Tavern, Süp, The Emerson, Pignic, R-Town Pizza, all steps away.
Getting There — Parking & Transit
Every option MidTown Reno has published for 2026, ranked. If you take one thing from this page: RTC is free that night.
RTC Virginia RAPID — Free Rides
RTC is running free rides on the Virginia RAPID line from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Zero cost, drops you right in the festival zone, and no parking hassle. The single easiest way in and out.
Park at Park Lane Theaters
Official festival parking at the Park Lane Theaters lot. Short walk into MidTown from the south. Fills up early — arrive before 4 PM for guaranteed spots.
RED Retail Garage
The RED retail garage is the other official parking option. Central to the closure footprint, and covered — nice if the sun is brutal.
Free Bike Valet at the MidTown Roundabout
Truckee Meadows Bike Alliance runs a free, staffed bike valet at the MidTown Roundabout. Bike in, hand off, dance — walk to your bike anytime, no lock needed.
Bird Scooters (with Credits)
MidTown Reno is offering Bird scooter credits for the event. Great for the last-mile from downtown or the Riverwalk district.
Driving into the Virginia St Closure
South Virginia is closed Liberty to Regency Way. Don't try to inch through — you'll get turned around and add 30 minutes to your night.
Locals’ move: RTC Virginia RAPID + free bike valet at the MidTown Roundabout. Ride the bus in, bike back later, or reverse it. No parking, no rideshare surge, no getting stuck in the closure at 11 PM.
Road Closures
One long stretch of South Virginia is closed for the festival footprint. Plan your route in and out.
South Virginia Street — from Liberty Street south to Regency Way. No vehicle traffic; full pedestrian mall.
Partial blockage at east-west side-street intersections (Cheney, Taylor, Mary, Stewart, Vassar). Local-access-only from the alley side.
Use Wells Avenue (east), Plumas Street, or S. Arlington Avenue (west) as your north-south alternate. Wells is the fastest through-route.
Exact closure hours are typically confirmed by the City of Reno / Reno PD 3–5 days before the event. Sign up for the Ask-Reno newsletter and we’ll ping you when the official notice drops.

Book via the official MidTown Reno event page.
Local Tips
Small moves that make the day noticeably better.
Arrive by 4 PM sharp — the first hour has the shortest bar lines and the best mural-painting access before the crowd thickens.
Take the Virginia RAPID. It's genuinely free, drops you in the festival, and pickup after 11 PM is a nightmare in every other transportation mode.
Six stages means a lot of walking. Wear closed-toe shoes; the pavement in July can hit 100°F by 5 PM.
Bring cash. Some vendors are card-only, some are cash-only, and the ATMs near MidTown get slammed.
It gets cold fast after 9 PM in the high desert. Bring a light layer or you'll be the one shivering on the way back.
Hit the MidTown brick-and-mortar bars between sets — Chapel Tavern, Death & Taxes, and The Emerson have shorter lines than the pop-up bars near the stages.
Rideshare pickups after 9 PM should be arranged at Wells Ave & Cheney (east side) or Arlington & Cheney (west side). Uber can't reach you on closed Virginia Street.
The best photo spot: the top of the Chapel Tavern stairs looking north on Virginia at golden hour. Post it and thank me later.
Where to Eat & Drink in MidTown
The festival brings food vendors, but MidTown’s permanent restaurants and bars are what make the neighborhood.
Süp
RamenRamen and Asian noodle bowls. Half the crowd is in cargo shorts, half is on dates. Both are correct.
Chapel Tavern
CocktailsCocktail bar with a serious whiskey list. Small, gets packed by 5 PM. Worth the wait.
Death & Taxes
CocktailsDark, moody, cocktail-forward. The MidTown drink scene basically starts here.
The Emerson
DinnerNew American, elevated. Best patio in MidTown. Reserve early on festival day.
Pignic Pub
Beer HallGerman-style beer hall with meat-heavy plates and a big beer garden. Kid-friendly earlier in the day.
R-Town Pizza
Late NightLate-night slice king. Post-festival stop for a lot of the crowd.
