What's Happening in Reno This Weekend — April 3–6, 2026
By Ask Reno
Spring has officially arrived in Reno and the city is not holding back. This weekend brings an unusually deep lineup across live music, motorsports, comedy, and community events. Whether you're a local looking for something to do or a visitor rolling in for the Virginia City Grand Prix or Reno Jazz Festival, here's your locals' guide to the best of what's happening April 3–6.
Friday, April 3
Rise Against with Destroy Boys — Grand Sierra Resort (Grand Theatre) Punk rock heavyweights Rise Against bring their politically charged, high-energy live show to the Grand Theatre. Chicago post-hardcore meets Sacramento punk outfit Destroy Boys as opener. If you like your Friday nights loud and fast, this is it.
Carolyn Dolan & Big Red LIVE — Reno Public Market A more intimate Friday night option. Carolyn Dolan brings soulful live music to Reno Public Market — great pairing with food and drinks from the vendors. Free to attend, easy going, very Reno.
All Your Friends: The Indie Party — Cargo Concert Hall Cargo continues its run as Reno's most interesting small venue. This indie dance party is exactly what it sounds like — a good excuse to be out on a Friday night without committing to a stadium show.
Josh Nasar — Nugget Casino Resort (Celebrity Showroom) Comedy via Reno Tahoe Comedy at the Nugget's Celebrity Showroom. A solid Friday night option if you want laughs over loud guitars.
Saturday, April 4
DEVO: Mutate Don't Stagnate — Grand Sierra Resort (Grand Theatre) This is the weekend's marquee show. The legendary new wave pioneers bring their iconic catalog — Whip It, Mongoloid, Uncontrollable Urge — to the Grand Theatre. DEVO in 2026 is a genuine event. Get there early, wear something weird, have fun.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show — Cargo Concert Hall Saturday midnight at Cargo. Bring your props, wear your costume, do the Time Warp. Reno doing Rocky Horror is very on-brand and if you've never been to a live audience screening, this is the one.
School of Rock + New Wave Crave LIVE — Reno Public Market Two live acts at the Public Market on Saturday. School of Rock brings the kids, New Wave Crave keeps the energy going into the evening. Great family-friendly afternoon option before the bigger shows.
Divas' Day Out — Grand Sierra Resort (Silver State Pavilion) Community expo and celebration at GSR. A different vibe from the concert lineup — worth knowing about if that's your scene.
Team Whiskey Bonanza An outdoor food, drink and adventure mashup floating around Reno. Details are venue-flexible but it's a good time for the outdoorsy crowd.
Sunday, April 5
Reno Jazz Festival — Multiple Venues One of Reno's most beloved annual events kicks off this weekend. The Reno Jazz Festival draws student musicians and jazz lovers from across the region. Multiple venues, multiple stages, all weekend. Free to attend many performances. This is a Reno institution — if you haven't been, go.
Virginia City Grand Prix — Virginia City 30 minutes east of Reno, the Virginia City Grand Prix brings motorcycle and bicycle racing to the historic streets of VC. Spectator-friendly, scenic, and a genuinely unique Nevada experience. Worth the drive up the hill.
SatchVai Band: Animals as Leaders — Grand Sierra Resort (Grand Theatre) Joe Satriani and Steve Vai together with Animals as Leaders as support. This is a guitar nerd's dream lineup. If you know, you know.
Sunday–Monday, April 5–6
Riverside Farmers Market — Downtown Reno The weekly Riverside Farmers Market is back in full spring mode. Local produce, vendors, good vibes along the river. Sunday morning staple.
Kayzo — Cargo Concert Hall (Sunday April 6) Electronic/dubstep headliner closes out the weekend at Cargo. High energy way to end a big weekend.

The Locals' Take
This weekend is a good reminder of what makes Reno underrated as a destination. In one 72-hour window you've got a legendary new wave act, a jazz festival that's been running for decades, live motorcycle racing in a 19th century mining town, punk rock, indie parties, comedy, and Rocky Horror. Not bad for a mid-size Nevada city that doesn't get enough credit.
